Meal Prep Series: Mason Jar Salads

When I first saw this idea, I was not exactly sold. I thought, there is no way that those lettuce leaves would stay fresh all week! I am on day three of these bad boys and they are crispy and delicious! What a great way to set the tone for your week! This week I made 14 Mason Jar Cobb Salads. 7 for me and 7 for my husband. He was skeptical at first and then I got a text at work “Omfg these things are amazing”

First you will need to go to your local Miejer, Walmart, Kmart. I checked target and they did not have these. Make sure you pick up the extra large Jars.


My Husband and I made a salad dressing that was full proof. One that we would both love!

Balsamic Vinagerette


3/4 cup olive oil
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp sugar
1 ½ tsp Dijon mustard
1 large shallot- quartered
2 cloves garlic
½ tsp sea salt
½ tsp fresh ground black pepper
We then laid out all of our materials. Here is what you will need.
Romaine lettuce (bulk bag from costco)
Large container of cherry tomtos
1 bag of sharp cheddar cheese
5 diced hard boiled eggs
1 large diced onion
1 package of turkey bacon
1 package of sliced turkey
can of corn
It is very important to add your dressing the bottom of the jar. Laying according to weight is key! Line the bottom of the jar with tomatoes, onions, and meat. Then pack in your lettuce and other light veggies that you want on your salad. I add the eggs and cheese last because I am a texture nut, and I cannot have my eggs and cheese mashed into a blog!
And voila! You have this beauty. Everyone at work said “what is that science experiment.” I said “It is my lifesaver!!
