Lift heavy…Trust me.

If there is one thing I have learned from my experience doing Chalean Extreme is that Muscle burns fat, makes you lean, healthy and sexy! I  was stuck in a plateau after my baby was born. I was only doing cardio, and no fat was leaving my body. I then started Chalean Extreme and I watched the fat melt away…

It is a common misconception that women will put on mass if they lift heavy weights. Unless you consume large amounts of supplements, consume steroids, or ingest testosterone… you will not put on mass. Women lack the one crucial element to putting on mass TESTOSTERONE! If you want a lean, strong, sexy body, lift weights. And not just some dinky 5lbs weights here and there, LIFTY HEAVY. Push your muscles to failure. The more your muscles have to repair the more calories your muscles have to burn post work out. Did you know that even after you lift weights your body is burning calories while repairing your muscles. Thats right… while you are sitting on the couch your body is burning fat… isn’t that incredible?

I have made the mistake in thinking that the only way to get lean is to do a ton of cardio. Cardio only burns fat while you are working out. If you mix cardio and weight lifting you turn your body into a lean, mean, calorie burning machine all day lone. Well, what about improving the health of your heart, and your anarobic threshold you ask? If you lift heavy weights you will experience a cardio affect. While doing my fitness program, Chalean extreme, I was squatting 45 lbs on both legs, my heart was pumping out of my chest, and I could barely catch my breath… talk about one heck of a cardio experience.

Fit, lean muscle is the new skinny. Lean Muscle on men and women is sexy. Muscle makes you look younger, stronger, healthier and radiant. Do you want to reverse aging? Gain muscle. Do you want a more efficient, and healthy body Gain muscle. I am not talking about getting huge and bulky people, I am talking about turning your fat into muscle. Unhealthy does one thing to your body… it kills it. Slowly but surely fat will wear you down and age you.

The Perfect Post Workout Meal!

This is so delicious and it is packed with protein, and fiber! The best time to eat is right after a work out. Your muscles are broken down and ready to obsorb nutrition.  This is called the anabolic half hour. Your window of opportunity is really within an hour. Why not pack your muscles with lean, healthy goodness. Foods such as fish, grains, and veggies are what will make you muscles grow without adding fat to your body.

Ingredients

1/2 lbs of large shrimp

Mixed stir fry veggies

brown rice and quinoa

Shriracha

Pinch of salt

Pinch of pepper

onions

garlic

I line a wok with olive oil. I heat it up to high and add my garlic and onions. I let the garlic and onions brown. I then add my veggies and shrimp. I then add my seasonings and shriracha!!

Guilt free, super healthy Chocolate Shakeology Ice Cream

Its the middle of summer and boy is it ever hot. Does it seem hotter this year than it was last year? One of my favorite things to eat when I am super hot is ice cream. I think I ate a tub of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream every week during my third trimester of my pregnancy. After having my baby, there was no way I as going to allow myself to indulge like that on a regular basis. So I searched high and low for a healthy alternative. I really could not find anything in the

store that did not contain high fructose corn syrup, a ton of sugar, or a ton of chemicals. I recently saw a machine that makes ice cream out of banana’s. Now I know there is not magic trick to making ice cream out of banana’s. So I figured out how it was done. You just process frozen banana’s and voila you have soft serve ice cream… NO SERIOUSLY IT IS SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM AND IT IS DELICIOUS. It has a very very light banana flavor, and a slight tang to it, but if you let you bananas get ripe enough, you start to loose that banana flavor. Now I looove bananas so it does not bother me if it tastes like bananas.

So to add more flavor to the ice cream I decided to add chocolate shakeology to the mix. This makes the ice cream super healthy, adds protein, prebiotics, and fiber to the mix! I also added some fresh all natural peanut butter to the mix. My husband loved it a lot, and he is a bit of an ice cream snob (he loves his moose tracks and Ben and Jerry’s). This is such a great alternative to give to your children. They would never know the difference and you are fueling their bodies with the most healthy foods out there! Lets end the trend in obesity. Lets enjoy life, lets enjoy eating, and lets me healthy!

The video below is of me making my yummy concoction.

Ingredients:

4 – 5 ripe bananas

All natural peanut butter or try PB2 from the health foods store.

1 scoop of chocolate shakeology (if you do not have shakeology, opt for cocoa powder)

You will want to first chop your bananas and then freeze them. After about two hours you will want to blend them up in a food processor. It will look like pebbles at first and then it will form into a creamy ice cream texture. Then you will want to add your shakeology and peanut butter to taste. Try and opt for the most natural peanut butter out there. This will make about 3 servings.
