The Whole30 Challenge

Have you heard of it? NO SUGAR, NO GRAINS, NO DAIRY, NO CHEATING. It is all the rage amongst the cross fit community/yoga community. And it makes perfect sense. You can in fact survive on the food of the land (not touched by man). Humans have been doing this for thousands of years.

I have been on a fitness and heath journey for almost a year now, and I have hit a major plateau and have noticed that I am lacking in one particular area in my life. My nutrition. I have been at 143 for almost 5 months now. It has been brutal trying to loose the last 15-20 lbs. I am 5’4 and would like to be around 125. As I mature in my fitness journey, I realize that the scale is crap, and I need to focus on my body fat percentage and measurements. So my new goal is to get down to 15-20% body fat. According to this photo this is considered an athletes body fat percentage. I also believe that this is a very healthy amount of body fat for a female. I am currently 26% so I am not to far off. I started my journey around 40% body fat!!

Body fat is not the main reason I want to take the whole30 challenge. My main reason is my current nutritional crutches and my battle with letting go of late night snacking, and wine, and chocolate. I would like to have these things on occasion, but It has gotten out of hand. I crave this every day on an emotional level, and I recognize that this is not a healthy relationship with food. I recognize that food gets me excited and happy again. I was to a point where I was thriving on food on a physical level only, now it has slipped into an emotional relationship. As stress has crept into my life, my outlet has become food. I started a new job, and have been away from my baby for the first time.

So here I am on day 2 of the whole30 and I am looking to inspire others to take this journey with me.
